Excellent Pictorial Review of Brain Function in Murderer

If we don't look, we can't see…
This graphic shows what we look for with SPECT brain imaging. It points to the neurophysiology of the specific brain regions and provides a sample of the relationships between areas of diminished brain activity.

Notice that the main areas troubled are the prefrontal cortex and the temporal lobes.

Remember that brain function can be impaired by chronic ongoing stress, malnutrition, and a variety of comorbid conditions, all of which need significant exploration.

Images tell us what and where the problem is, and suggests what might be helpful immediately. More specific metabolic testing procedures tell us specifically how to fix it for the long term.

But at the end of the day we must address cellular function.
Neurotransmitter activity combined with understanding cellular physiology is the new, new frontier.

  1. So, maestro… nurture and nature?

Are these prefrontal problems in born… or the result of trauma in youth? Or, something else?

    Just wondering.
