ADD/ADHD: What kind of problem is it?
This brief post, just to keep you on your toes, brings another new word you will find in the ADD/ADHD literature. This one is easy, and trips off the tongue like we have been using it for years. This word captures the essence of this strategic moment in our evolution in the understanding and treating ADD/ADHD:
The new word: ADD/ADHD is a “neurogenetic” disorder.
Not even in Wikipedia yet. Makes the whole subject of ADD/ADHD research much more biologic, and scientific – less a belief system. “It's all about the development of dynamic neuronal models…” Genes, neurons, gene networks, and molecular and cellular physiology. This is where we are going.
See the deep reference soon to be published on Computational Neurogenetic Modeling.
Refreshingly easy word. Looks like the concepts will bring some long nights with the books.
