Mind Watch In 2014: ADHD Becomes EFD

Improve ADHD Old Thinking For 2014 – “Function” Makes More Sense

Ted talks, complexity, ADHD complexity, EFD

Step Up To Reality

Reflect for a moment on the many benefits of reconsidering the diagnostic details of “ADHD” – that superficial, inaccurate diagnosis derided by so many for its obvious inadequacy.

EFD – Executive Function assessments seem at first more complicated, but using real brain function will change the lives of millions in the next few years – millions who regularly find themselves misunderstood, misdiagnosed and mistreated by current ADHD labels.

>> Why Not Improve ADHD Diagnosis? Brain Executive Function Too Complex?

Take a look at these two short TED Talks that address the benefit of sorting complexity – the benefit of living in reality vs label dreams.

    Hello Dr Parker,

I wanted to ask following sucessfully reading through ADHD Medication rules what your take on solving the problem of Adrenal Fatigue and Leaky Gut – does it need to be taylored on and individual basis?

For instance is Caffeine in Coffee going to be a hindrance in fixing a leaky gut and I understand it perpetuates adrenal fatigue.

My other questions relates to SIBO (Small Bowl Bacteria Overgrowth) and Candida – are these FADs or can one test for them and cure them? They seem to be linked with many cowboy practitioners with no medical training.

I have followed your advice to date on IGG which I have found a revalation, however I still suffer from lingering adrenal / gut issues.

ATB and keep up the great work.

    Derek

    • Thanks Der,
You do need a complete redo on healing the gut if it’s suffers w IgG issues for years. The leaks can continue w/o specific attention. The Adrenal is the last darn gland to come back… I’ve had folks that we’ve worked w for more than a year and then “the lights went on.” Trace element testing and specific supplements for gut healing in addition to probiotics are often necessary to do the job. Take a look at the several vids on my 3 Allergy and Gut Video playlists to become even more informed over at http://youtube.com/drcharlesparker
Thanks, hang tough, stay on the Path, it takes some time – often many months.

In my work I’ve had many Aspie/ADHD and ADHD diagnosed clients.

One thing the aspie group presented was a quick fire Fight or Flight response that needed an act of Congress to stop.

With ADHD clients dealing with an anxiety riddled situation, they can (most of the time) think through the situation in a timely manner.

In my humble opinion and experience, Asperger’s seems almost like ADHD on steroids. I use the same techniques with aspie clients that I do with ADHD clients, it just takes a lot more time and patience.

  3. Interesting, Doc! Keep doing amazing things to help millions out there (like myself)!

    Hi Dr. Parker,

The first Ted Talk video with Eric I could grasp with my ADD but the second Ted Talk video …..
that talk was way outside my ADD ball park.

From my perspective based on experience, the second talk with Sean the Physicist is for Asperger individuals not ADD individuals.

Which raises a 2 question, I’ve noticed that there are so many Asperger Adults diagnosed with ADHD and not Aspergers.
Why is that? Do you find many diagnostic psychiatrists are undiagnosed Asperger Adults and can not see their own traits in their patients?
    ~ Susan

    • Susan,
My take on the second: that guy is so bright he couldn’t wrap it up as clearly. Too many thots will make anyone look aspie. The point to them both: deal w the complexity, see the connections w the current perceptions – the intersections, and then move to that next geography. Really bright math folks all seem to suffer from too many thoughts all at one time.

I don’t look for labels for my colleagues, but some clearly meet the criteria for disconnected overabundance of thinking. Been there. And yes, many ADHD adults are incorrectly called aspie rather than directly fixed. Most are quite improvable with help to the executive function.
