ADHD Meds Need Far More Attention
Just off the web-radio at Attention Talk Radio last night with Jeff Copper discussing the details of why-so-many-med-problems and what-to-do-next.
Targets Change
With ADHD medication targets are often amorphous and imprecise, so too many are taking shots at passing signs… things that look like targets, but may not provide the essential target strategy for that symptom picture.

ADHD Medication Target Details – Simple If Understood
The bottom line summary for this program is simple, ADHD medications only work predictably if you follow the rules. The rules, contrary to current popular belief, do exist, are easily translated into effective office strategies. Those ADHD medication rules do require that the entire medical team simply pay attention to the self evident details regarding how the meds are working. Objective functional brain based assessments determine the specific targets – the current superficial labels, based upon surface appearances simply don't work effectively and the public knows it.
An essential closing point, participation with both parties, both doc and patient must work together for this one, or else it's simply like throwing a can of paint at the barn door and declaring it Done, Painted! ADHD medications simply need their own focus, their own precise attention, or else unpredictable results follow.
Hope to see you at CHADD in FL,
cp

Dr. Parker. It’s been six months since I last wrote you. I’m 49 years old. About 5 years ago I realized I was mentally exhausted; a lifetime of being miserable and unable to make decisions. I couldn’t stop my racing thoughts. I went to a few Phychiatrists and they prescribed antidepressants (SSRI’S). None of them worked. They actually made me feel worse. Then I found a great Neuro-Psychiatrist. He started me on Stimulant medicine. I tried most of them. I found your website and watched the ADHD med tutorial videos. The eight videos are a great addition to my ADHD knowledge. My next decision was to take Vyvanse. Now I’ve finally purchased your book ADHD Medication Rules. The books is a MUST READ for anyone with ADHD – or anyone seeking knowledge regarding ADHD, Serotonin, Dopamine and much much more. I have no medical background but I’m able to read and re-read the Rules book. My notes are streamlined – allowing me to laser focus on my ADHD. I want to thank you and encourage you to continue your open and bold work in the area of ADHD. Michael

i have found that both the amphetamines and the methylphenidate products can cause the “stoned” effect. Similarly, I have found both can cause the irritability. Nice to hear you Dr. Parker… your thoughts, please-
thanks. lucianne cronin
Lucianne,
Quite right, this is the phenomenon of, on the surface review, coming out the top of the window based likely upon other other measurable variables. Irritability and stoned both indicate too much, period. The med sensitivity does require more insight regarding causality.
We start with the metabolic testing, as the #2 question, and do a basic neurotransmitter work up to get the gut/immunity issues on the table. If they bounce on that one, and depending on circumstance we also often do heavy metal and toxic element testing. Some of the folks, kids and adults, need serious detox activities [liver, oral chelation, etc.]
